Why Can’t I?

Why can’t I come crying about my other kids to you?
Expressing how I can’t see them as much as I want to

Why can’t I tell you my fears?
Those demons I’ve been sitting on for years

Why can’t I use your vacant shoulder?
To confide in as this stress makes me older

Why can’t I feel seen?
To be armorless because you will defend me and keep me clean

Why can’t I be me?
You’ve seen me but believe it to be something other than I aim to be

Why carry this weight?
Finally a question to help me to either go or stay

Why can’t I?

    I love your work.
Heavy…carrying around all the things you can’t say to a spouse. You haven’t given up just yet, maybe waiting for the other to gain perspective. Talking with family isn’t always the same, but hopefully each day you can set a bit aside, even temporarily, to lighten your heart
